Eats & Drinks in ATX

I’ve always considered myself a foodie but after living in Austin for two years, I feel like a BIG time foodie. In most cities that means you have to find the most expensive restaurants to find quality food but that’s not the case in ATX. The beauty of Austin is that there’s such an eclectic style, cuisine and design of food in this city. The hardest part about picking food in Austin is there are So. Many. Options. You could quite literally eat your way through this city for years. I know I’ve only scratched the surface but I couldn’t resist sharing some of my favorite spots! Whether you are ballin on a budget or spending freely, I promise you’re going to love these stops.

My three focuses on picking places to eat are the ambiance and the quality of food and drinks. If I had to guess, I’m sure the rest of the world pics their options this way as well. Now you may ask how a food truck can have ambiance? You’re just going to have to trust me on this one, some do and some definitely don’t.

BRUNCH:

Let’s start with the most important meal of the day, brunch. Everyone’s started intermittent fasting so we’ve bypassed breakfast and gone straight to lunch and thus the child was born, brunch. When I’m thinking brunch I’m looking for a good cup of coffee, cocktail, and a semi healthy/hearty meal. I honestly don’t love a ton of brunch places in Austin so I’ve only put my favorites!

  • Hank’s- Breakfast Chicken Sandwich, hands down. Solid vibes, good cocktails

  • Irene’s- three things: Patio, Pitcher of mimosa’s, the biscuits and gravy.

  • Swedish Hill- A little on pricier side but a fan favorite. Perfect for the grab and go or quicker service

  • North Italia- Italian breakfast. Incredible.

Happy Hour:

Ugh my favorite part of the day! I absolutely love social hour with good food, drinks, and friends. Truly one of my favorite things in the world!

  • El Alma- $6 margaritas, ceviche, and tacos. Praise Be!

  • P6 at LINE Hotel- I love the vibe at P6 overlooking Lady Bird Lake. I think their food is great but best suited for drinks & snacks not full meals.

  • Uchiko- If you’re looking to snag the best sushi in town at a good price, Uchiko happy hour is it.

  • Salty Sow- Honey rosemary dipped friend chicken and negronis, need I say more?

Dinner:

There are SOO many good places to have dinner in Austin, like a lot. The key to succeeding on the dinner game is reservations. I pretty much book all my dinners on Open Table or Resy. I’ve used these sites for years and love that you can search from so many options. #notanad Pro tip, this is an easy way to find the best restaurants in new cities and often how I search for places.

  • ATX Cocina- Mexican food with a flare! Don’t expect tex-mex but expect to be blown away!

  • Patrizi’s- Food Truck italian that will blow your mind! Get the dinner for 2 for $40, it’s fantastic.

  • Matt’s El Rancho- 8/10 Tex Mex but the Mexican Martini will be set you up for a good night ahead.

  • Perla’s- Crisp martinis and cajun oysters- y.e.s.

  • Pool Burger- Good burgers, good fries, good drinks and all around good vibes.

  • Sammie’s- A little taste of New York City in ATX. You’d expect to see a celebrity in the corner and it’s 100% worth it.

  • ABA- A Queen of the mediterranean dips. If you go and don’t get the whipped feta or garlic hummus, we can’t be friends.

  • Eberly- Ambiance is a 10/10 here with mood lighting, a historical bar and a seasonal menu. Say Less!
