Whitefish, Montana

Nestled in the valley of the Northern Rockies, near Glacier National Park, is a serene mountain town named Whitefish, Montana. Strolling through the charming downtown or wandering around the area on a hike, a visit here is good for the soul. By the time you leave, you’ll be driving around with the windows down singing Wide Open Spaces by the Dixie Chicks with a brand new cowboy hat atop your head.

There’s not a bad time to visit Whitefish. In the summers, you’ve got music festivals, valley picnics, endless hikes at Glacier, or even rent a boat on the lake! For the past two years, we’ve had “Summer Camp” in this magical place, and I am seriously never ready to leave. Absolute charm.

The winters are serious, especially for a gal from Texas. It will be the perfect opportunity to bust out your sorrels and layer up with the frosty air in Whitefish. What I highly recommend is skiing in Whitefish; it’s incredible. It's one of the most challenging and fun mountains I’ve ever skied on. The cost is a fraction of what it takes in Colorado, along with half the tourists. Be warned that the mountain has low visibility most days, but I say it’s worth it!

Whether you stop through with family and friends or even on a solo trip, this is a destination you’ll want on your bucket list.
